Make Some Noise (1994)

For all Toronto Hip Hop Enthusiasts, this is a MUST WATCH film made in 1994 by Andrew Munger.

Shouts to Noel Dix of HHK for posting this video on facebook.

For some this film is nothing new, but for so many others, they don't even know it exists.  Time to change that, this story needs to get out.  Let's do everything we can to make sure this is viewed far and wide and the legacy's of many of the pioneer Toronto Hip Hop community members is preserved and shared.

Too many classic moments are captured to name them all, but expect rare interview footage with tdot legends sprinkled in with special treats like brother jonbronski getting his Afro shaped, Motion ripping the mic at what looks to be the opera house stage, DJ X asking the community to pledge money for CKLN and talking about the importance of community radio, Thrust thanking his whole fam for donating to CKLN, a young lesser known Mos Def chilling at CKLN, Dan-e-o running from his bus to make sure he didn't miss the taping of a cipher on school yard property, some very special Farley Flex freestyling clips, plus tons more hidden gems.  Here's some advice...call some friends, make some popcorn and then take an hour to watch this film. Don't forget to share it.

This film is a precursor to what is about to come out of a collaboration with the CBC, Manifesto, Northside Hip Hop, Dalton Higgins & Mindbender during the month of March. We will be bringing you some serious Canadian hip hop content past and present, and creating some of our own history with 2 very special events.  Details to come out this week. Keep a look out.

  1. Mos Def cameo in the Powermore segment was not expected. Woburn making an appearance.

  3. My question is this: where is everyone in this video now? A lot of people in this video are doing really interesting things - not all music - in the city of Toronto. I would like to know about where some of the other people that I don't know are at.
