Business for the Arts, ArtsVote Toronto, Toronto Arts Council, the Art Gallery of Ontario and Manifesto will host a Mayoral debate on Wednesday, September 29, 7pm at Baillie Court at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Moderated by John Tory, Chair of the Toronto City Summit Alliance, the Arts Debate will give Mayoral candidates the opportunity to debate the role of arts and culture in Toronto, its impact on the economic health of the city and the role that artists play in city building.

CBC radio personality Jian Ghomeshi of Radio One?s flagship arts show Q, will join the debate as the official emcee of the Culture Wheel. TheCulture Wheel will test the candidates? cultural knowledge with quiz questions throughout the debate.

Mayoral candidates who have confirmed their participation in the debate are: Joe Pantalone, Rocco Rossi, George Smitherman and Sarah Thomson. All of the leading candidates were invited. A sixth mayoral candidate will be invited to participate as decided by public vote from a list of Mayoral candidates who have completed the ArtsVote Survey.
