On Thursday October 14, 2010, This Is London (364 Richmond St. W.) will host Mohabbat: A Benefit for Pakistan. MuchMusic’s Sarah Taylor and CP24’s Matte Babel will host the event in support of Plan Canada’s relief efforts in Pakistan. the word Mohabbat means Love in Urdu, the national language of Pakistan.
“The flooding in Pakistan is one of the worst humanitarian disasters of our time. Over 20 million people have been affected; many of whom are children,” said Nadine Grant, Director of Programs at Plan Canada. “The U.N. is making the largest disaster appeal ever, asking the world’s governments and humanitarian groups to raise a total of over $2 billion for flood survivors. This event is another way for Torontonians to help those in need.”
The flood survivors in Pakistan will need support for years to come and now is the time to take action. Sarah Taylor of MuchMusic, Caroline Shaheed of oftheNow.ca and Jonathan Ramos of Union Events have banded together with a fantastic team to show Pakistan that we care. The evening will also feature a henna artist, raffle and silent auction with more than 50 different items up for bid such as Toronto Raptors autographed shoes and tickets, concert tickets, jewelry, dinner gift cards, clothing, artwork and more. Auction items will be available to take home that night, and are payable by cash or credit card. the auction ends at 11:30 pm and winners will be announced immediately after.
