Tarrus Riley – “Shaka Zulu Pickney” [official video + behind the scenes]

Just in time for Black History Month, Tarrus Riley releases a brand new video.

Tarrus Riley was the headliner of our sister festival in Kingston Jamaica, Manifesto Festival of ART'ical Empowerment - manifestojamaica.com

He teamed up with director Storm on his new track Shaka Zulu Pickney.  This is the first project that Storm has worked on since putting out the critically acclaimed film Better Mus Come.  I had the very distinct privilege of being at the shooting of this video at Wicky Wicky in Kingston Jamaica.  In the coming weeks I will post my photos and behind the scenes clips.  In the meantime, check the epic video:

The crew also released a great additional video which explains the meaning of the song and video and its relevance to today.  I wish all videos would come out with mini docs like this!  Tarrus had a clear directive behind this song and video saying, "what I hope to accomplish with the song and the video is to just make the whole blackness and Africaness a part of the popular culture".  Storm concurs saying "Black history is cool and should be cool and shouldn't be seen as an old people thing, it should be seen as something to be proud of".  Check the video and leave us some comments to let us know if you think they accomplished their goal.
