THE SANKOFA TRILOGY! d’bi.young anitafrika [Event]

The MANIFESTO team would like to congratulate the amazingly talented D'bi Young on her newest work "the sankofa trilogy" which had its opening night this past Friday!


"The Sankofa Trilogy is d’bi.young anitafrika’s offering to her mother who taught her dubpoetry. to her grandmother who taught her resilience. to jamaica who taught her black is beautiful. to canada who taught her wombanism. and to the world who is teaching her love.

the name sankofa references the ancient ashanti adinkra symbol the sankofa bird which means toreturn and get it. in blood.claat,  benu, and word! sound! powah! d’bi.young returns to her own childhood, returns to memories of her family’s past, and returns to the herstories of her ancestors to get the knowledges that will teach her how to better love herself, her children, her peoples, her planet, and the entire universe."
